"3 Things to Know"
#1 - Prepare The Night Before
- Get to sleep early! The AP Test is long... Don't add additional obstacles by being exhausted. Getting to bed on a decent time will energize you and build your confidence.
- Breakfast is a must - nobody wants to hear the songs of your gut. Eating breakfast will fuel your mind and body and assure you that you won't be distracting yourself or others.
- Write down strategic skills that you will be using on your test and stick with it. Having a game plan will build your confidence and directly impact the outcome of your AP Exam positively.
#2 - AP Exam Multiple Choice
- Read questions first:
- Highlight, underline, circle, and annotate main ideas or hints given from the questions to guide your reading of the passage.
- Annotate, Annotate, Annotate!
- Annotating on the passage will help guide yourself when going back and forth between the questions and passage. Also the repetition of annotations will help you comprehend the passage.
- Trouble with a question:
- Narrow down the right answer by crossing off the obvious wrong answers. Looking at two answers instead of 4 will helps you think more clearly and focused on what the right answer may be.
- Keep in mind questions later on may push you towards the right answer so it is okay to skip but make sure you make it obvious that you need to revisit the question by putting a big obnoxious star there.
#3 - AP Exam Essay
- Annotate the prompt
- Highlight, underline, circle, and annotate main ideas within the passage.
- This will help you to outline your essay.
- Use Quotes whenever you can.
- Have well integrated quotes - preferably "lotsasauce" - in every body paragraph.
- Use a real world example in your conclusion.
- This will tie in your essay and prove to the AP Readers that you understand the prompt fully.
